This radar image from the National Weather Service shows rainfall across the region shortly after 6:15 a.m.

Heavy rain will fall across much of Arkansas on Wednesday and temperatures will stay much lower than usual for this time of year, the National Weather Service said.

Widespread rainfall will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain for a large part of the state with some locally heavier amounts possible. A flash flood watch runs through 7 p.m. for all but parts of southwest, far southern and Northwest Arkansas.

"Forecast rainfall amounts will be less than previous days," the weather service said in a statement, "but with already saturated soils, any heavy rainfall could cause issues."

Flood warnings are also in effect for the White River at Augusta and Clarendon, the Cache River near Patterson, the Black River at Black Rock and the Petit Jean River at Danville.

The rain is expected to move out in the afternoon.

Temperatures, meanwhile, are expected to be 20 to 30 degrees below normal. In Little Rock, the weather service forecast a high of only 61. That is the normal low for May 14 in Little Rock and 20 degrees below the normal high.
