FILE — Sen. Jason Rapert, R-Conway, center, speaks at a news conference at the Arkansas state Capitol in Little Rock, Ark., Friday, April 11, 2014. A resolution by Rapert urging the state Supreme Court to uphold a ban on same-sex marriage was blocked by lawmakers Friday.

Arkansas lawmakers have blocked a resolution urging the state Supreme Court to uphold a ban on same-sex marriage.

A non-binding resolution objecting to a judge's decision striking down the ban failed before the Arkansas Legislative Council on a procedural vote Friday. The resolution would have urged justices to overturn Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza's ruling striking down all measures preventing gay couples from marrying.

The proposal failed to win enough votes to be considered by the panel.

The resolution by Republican Sen. Jason Rapert also called on the court to invalidate hundreds of marriage licenses that have been issued since Piazza's ruling last week.

Doesn't the State House have a Republican majority? So how does the left continue to get away with calling Republicans anti-gay and anti-woman? Wake up voters Republicans don't have horns and pitch forks, they honor and love their family and neighbors just like you, the difference in the parties is fiscal responsibility and reducing the role government has in private matters. Just the like the Dems, a small number of misfits do not define the party.

Good for them! About time Republicans stood up to the extremist in their parties, like the Democrats have done for years here in Arkansas.

So much for part of my argument. I thought that he was overriding what was passed as law by the legislature, but it seems that they were all in cahoots and he was the one with the guts to kill the law since he is not opposed for reelection.
Main issue still remains. They may change the law to make it legal, but they will never make it right.

Rapert thinks he walks on water. Look at his past bills. He is one of those thumpers from the middle ages. I'll bet you that as Faulkner county is dry, it will stay that way as long is he is around. His secrets will come out as he thinks he is free of sin.
