Killian leads Arkansas to win

Trey Killian pitched six scoreless innings on five days rest and Arkansas beat Texas A&M 4-0 Tuesday at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

Killian struck out four batters, scattering four hits and two walks in the elimination game. In two games against the Aggies this season, Killian allowed just one run in 14 innings, having taken a no-decision in a game between the teams 11 days earlier.

The right-hander earned only his fourth win in 13 starts this season despite a 2.18 earned run average. Zach Jackson pitched three innings in relief to complete the Razorbacks' ninth shutout of the season.

Arkansas (36-21) took the lead on a solo home run by Eric Fisher to leadoff the second inning, but neither team scored again until the seventh inning. Texas A&M starter Daniel Mengden allowed only three hits until the Razorbacks broke through in the seventh.

Tyler Spoon worked a two-out walk and scored on an Alex Gosser RBI single. Clark Eagan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Andrew Benintendi added a bases loaded walk later in the inning to extend the Razorbacks' lead to 4-0.

With the win, Arkansas advanced to the double elimination portion of the tournament. The Razorbacks will play second-seeded Ole Miss at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Arkansas has won seven of its last eight games, including three wins in four games against Texas A&M (33-24).
