Bank robber drives Prius for getaway

The latest robbery of a Little Rock bank resulted in a gunman getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash in a Toyota Prius.

The robbery began about 2 p.m. Monday when a white man wearing a red jacket and black hat entered the Bank of Little Rock branch at 10901 N. Rodney Parham Road. He was armed with a semi-automatic pistol and threatened bank tellers, said Lt. Sidney Allen, a Little Rock police spokesman.

The man left in the Prius but was last seen in a newer model Chevrolet sedan with orange decal advertisements on its doors, Allen said. Police also suspect the robber was wearing an ankle monitor, which authorities often use to track prisoners released on bond or to home detention.

Police described the suspect as 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a husky build, red curly hair and a light red goatee.

Motorcycles' GPS leads to two arrests

Two men were arrested Monday in the theft of five motorcycles worth nearly $80,000, North Little Rock police said.

The arrests came after detectives used GPS-tracking equipment installed on the motorcycles to trace them to an automobile detailing business at 200 S. Broadway in Little Rock.

Larry Darnell Young and Lemarcus Jamal Austin, both 19 and from Little Rock, were charged with burglary and theft. Austin also was charged with obstructing governmental operations, accused of providing detectives with another name.

The motorcycles were discovered missing early Monday from a used car dealership at 815 E. Broadway in North Little Rock. The lock to the business had been cut, police said.

LR man stabbed, robbed of $1,400

A Little Rock man showed up on his brother's doorstep with a knife wound after a robbery Saturday night.

Lamont Smith, 26, was walking east on West 14th Street near Woodrow Street when a man walked up to him and asked whether he had any "dope," according to police reports.

Smith told the man no, and the suspect stabbed him at least once with a knife and took $1,400 in cash, according to reports.

The victim made his way to his brother's front porch at 3118 W. 14th St., where he waited for an ambulance to take him to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7, 120-pound white man in his late 20s or early 30s who wore a light blue shirt and dark pants.

Shooter misses dog, hits man, police say

A Little Rock man was shot Friday by a friend who was trying to hit a dog that was attacking the man.

Officers went to 15 Austin Court at 8:08 p.m. Friday and found 48-year-old Ronnie Carson lying in a pool of his own blood at the foot of the stairs inside the home, according to a police report.

The resident at the address, Candice Caldwell, 28, told police she was watching a pit bull for a friend who was in jail. She said the dog "just started attacking" Carson, which left blood on the stairs, in the home's front room and in Caldwell's bedroom, according to the report.

Caldwell said Taylor Harvey, 69, who lives at the home with Caldwell, grabbed his revolver to get the dog off Carson.

He fired and saw the dog run away from Carson. It wasn't until later that he realized he'd shot Carson and not the dog, according to report.

Police had to use a stun gun to subdue the dog.

Carson was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock and was unable to give a statement because he was sent to surgery.

He was in critical condition over the weekend, according to police.
