President Barack Obama speaks to reporters in the Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House in Washington, on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, after he met with Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki and Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors.

WASHINGTON — Seeking to head off a growing furor over veterans' health care, President Barack Obama declared Wednesday that allegations of misconduct at VA hospitals are "dishonorable" and will be not be tolerated by his administration.

"I will not stand for it — not as commander in chief but also not as an American," Obama said after an Oval Office meeting with VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

His administration is under mounting pressure from Capitol Hill to address troubling allegations of treatment delays and preventable deaths at VA hospitals. The VA Inspector General's office said late Tuesday that 26 facilities are being investigated nationwide — up from 10 just last week — including a Phoenix hospital where 40 veterans allegedly died while waiting for treatment and staff there kept a secret list of patients waiting for appointments to hide delays in care.

Shinseki, a retired Army four-star general, is facing calls for his resignation from some lawmakers. Obama spoke warmly of Shinseki on Wednesday, saying the secretary had poured his heart and soul into his job, but said there would be accountability if the allegations of misconduct are proven to be true.

There will be no differences between Obama Care and V.A. care for Veterans. It will suck.

DDDK is correct, our healthcare system is ruined. As far as any accountability from those responsible, get real, this will all be glossed over because of the accurate comparisons to Obamacare. And don't tell me Obamacare is not gov. healthcare, the goal of the fools is single payer system, and it's closer than you think. The fools think Climate Chaos is a bigger threat to their grandchildren than the destruction of our healthcare system.

I'll bet shredders in VA offices across the nation are working over time getting rid of the evidence.

Osage,

I still have my premium insurance policy; my coverage has not changed. Now, we just have more people who are insured. This has been a boon to Arkansas hospitals some of which were having trouble making it.

Pop, There are no reliable stats on any of this yet, I also still have my Doc and ins. BUT, so many parts of this have been delayed that we have no idea what the end result will be, predictions run the gamut from horrible to good. I do know that every Doctor I talk to and my brother, who is a Medical Physicist, say that they are already facing the monster, and that this will destroy the most advanced Healthcare in the world. As far as the hospitals go, I got a CT scan done at Boone County for 2000.00, got the same thing done at Fayetteville Diagnostic for 650.00, so they should be making money ripping people off. There is no question this boondoggle will lead to a 2 tier system, are you going to be with the common folks, or can you afford to be with the rich folks? Of course the libs want us all on single payer so we all will die early and save us from climate chaos. Dingypoo, Bush was awful, This POS of a POTUS is beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
