LR police officer injured in motorcycle accident

A Little Rock police officer was injured late Wednesday morning when his motorcycle struck a woman's vehicle.

A collision report states that motorcycle officer Tim Stankevitz, 44, was westbound on the 500 block of West Roosevelt Road shortly before noon when Katassja Washington, 25, of North Little Rock pulled out in front of him from the parking lot of Todd's T & C Auto Clinic.

Stankevitz, who said he was traveling about 25 mph, was unable to avoid Washington's black Chevrolet Impala and struck the side of her vehicle, causing him to flip over his handlebars and land on the Impala's hood.

The report states that Stankevitz had extreme pain in his left leg and couldn't stand. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released, authorities said.

Washington told police she was attempting to turn left into the eastbound lanes of Roosevelt Road and didn't see Stankevitz in time to avoid the collision. She was cited with failure to yield.
