MovieStyle: Back to the future

By The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Bryan Singer has returned to the X-Men franchise he was instrumental in creating and the result is — some are saying — perhaps the best superhero movie ever. Is it really? Our Piers Marchant reviews the film in this week’s MovieStyle.

But while most eyes may be drawn to the costumed mutants, there are six other movies opening in area theaters, the most notable of which may be Steven Knight’s Locke, which takes place almost entirely within a luxury SUV, and stars Tom Hardy as supercompetent Welshman whose life is falling apart.

Philip Martin assays that one, leaving Dan Lybarger to check out Adam Sandler’s latest Blended, in which he re-teams with frequent co-star Drew Barrymore.

Also opening this week: The Railway Man, Belle, The Only Lovers Left Alive and Chef.

See this week’s MovieStyle for opinions and advice.
