Sharp County coroner beats 'Clash' star in primary

ASH FLAT — The Sharp County coroner easily won the Democratic nomination for his position Tuesday night by defeating a resident known as "The Baroness" on a reality TV show about the Ozarks.

Coroner Doug Wortham defeated Renee Clay-Circle in Tuesday's Democratic primary. But in the general election, Wortham will face Clay-Circle's husband, Nathan Circle, who is running as an independent.

Renee Clay-Circle is featured on The Discovery Channel's Clash of the Ozarks, which is filmed in the Hardy area. She's called "The Baronness" on the show because her family owns several businesses in the area, including funeral homes.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that Wortham won the Democratic nomination with nearly 75 percent of the vote.
