HUD awards grants to Arkansas organizations

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is awarding more than $91,000 in federal grants to six Arkansas organizations to help families and individuals with their housing needs and to prevent future foreclosures.

HUD Regional Administrator Tammye Trevino announced the grants Thursday that are to be used to help the agencies find suitable housing for low-income families or to help the families keep the homes they have.

Crawford Sebastian Community Development Council in Fort Smith will receive $15,022; Northwest Regional Housing Authority in Harrison receives $15,312; Jonesboro Urban Renewal And Housing Authority was awarded $12,359; and Universal Housing Development Corp. in Russellville receives $15,067. Also, the Arkansas Development Finance Authority in Little Rock is to receive $20,486, and Southern Bancorp Community Partners in Little Rock was awarded $13,411.
