Band chief resigns at Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech University’s band director has resigned.

Christopher Anderson, associate professor of music and director of bands, is leaving to become director of fine arts for the Lubbock Independent School District in Texas, the university announced in a news release Thursday.

Before joining Arkansas Tech in June 2011, Anderson was associate director of bands, director of athletics bands and associate professor of music at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

“The department of music is grateful to Dr. Anderson for his three years of service to our students,” said Cynthia Hukill, head of the Arkansas Tech music department and associate professor of music. “He will carry with him all of our best wishes for continued success.”

The university has not yet hired a new director.
