Man jailed in scrap with police officer

An Oklahoma man faces five criminal charges after getting physical with police at a gas station near the intersection of South University and Asher avenues in Little Rock, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Public Safety reported.

Edmond Hayden, 32, was asked by a security guard at the Kum & Go gas station to leave the property a little after 9 p.m. Saturday, the report states. Hayden left but later returned, the report states.

According to the report, Hayden tried to fight the security guard. He then attempted to take a UALR officer to the ground, police reported. The officer placed a restraint on Hayden, the report states. Hayden then ran but was caught, the report states.

Hayden faces charges of second-degree battery, criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, fleeing and public intoxication. He was being held at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $3,000 bond late Sunday.
