Truck hits, kills Pine Bluff man

A Pine Bluff pedestrian was hit and killed early Tuesday while walking along U.S. 79, the Arkansas State Police said.

Walter Farver Jr., 33, was walking south on the highway in Jefferson County at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday when a 1998 Mack truck headed north hit him, according to a preliminary state police accident report.

The Jefferson County coroner pronounced Farver dead at the scene.

Farver’s was the 141st fatal accident to occur on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
