Jail inmate charged in August break-in

Fingerprints and other evidence recovered from a burglary of a Little Rock storage unit last year have led to new charges against a Pulaski County jail inmate, police reported.

Steven Hensley, 40, was charged Friday with aggravated robbery, commercial burglary and theft of property. Hensley was already being held in the jail on charges of theft of property and failure to comply.

Police connected Hensley to an Aug. 26 burglary at Interstate 630 Business Park, 1200 John Barrow Road.

Xavier Hendrix, who was renting a storage unit, confronted two men at the business park who were loading items that belonged to him.

Hendrix told investigators that the men rammed his vehicle and drove through a chain-link fence to escape, according to a court affidavit.

The two men drove to gas station about a block away before jumping out of the truck and fleeing. Police reported finding Hensley's driver's license inside the truck.

In March, investigators determined that fingerprints inside the truck, as well as on a cellphone recovered at the scene, matched Hensley's.

Later, Hendrix identified Hensley in a police photo lineup.

Hensley remained in the Pulaski County jail late Tuesday in lieu of a $22,000 bond.
