• Every one of the girl graduates of the Little Rock grammar schools appeared at the graduation exercises in the high school auditorium last night wearing a neat white "middie blouse." This costume had been agreed upon by teachers and graduates as a method of doing away with the costly rivalry that formerly prevailed to see which girl should have the most elaborate dress. Not only did the little graduates present a most charming appearance, not only was each happy in the consciousness that she was exactly as well-dressed as her neighbor, but the countenances of the hard-working fathers in the audience bore expressions of peace and satisfaction.

• As Monroe County election officials were certifying primary results last week, they realized a tabulation machine created numerous "overvotes" in precincts across the county. Many ballots looked as if voters had voted twice in the same race, said County Clerk Janet Tweedle. The problem was traced to a maintenance worker over tightening a bolt on the sensor of an election machine. The officials recounted all of the ballots after bringing in new equipment. The recount changed all of the totals in the election but produced only one change in the unofficial outcomes announced Tuesday.
