UA names O'Donnell interim vice chancellor for finance

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has named Timothy J. O’Donnell as interim vice chancellor for finance and administration to replace Don Pederson, UA officials said Wednesday.

His appointment begins July 1.

O’Donnell started working at UA last October as the first associate vice chancellor for budget and financial planning, the university said in a statement.

Pederson, the longest-serving senior administrator in UA history who came under heavy fire from state legislators last year for a lack of forthrightness about troubles within the university's main fundraising division, is retiring effective June 30.

A search committee has yet to be appointed, but a national search will be conducted to fill the vice chancellor position permanently, UA said.

O’Donnell worked with Arkansas Western Gas and Southwestern Energy Co. for 22 years, where he served as vice president and treasurer, before arriving at UA.
