Wal-Mart awards $50,000 to Fayetteville charity

The Wal-Mart Foundation has awarded $50,000 to Fayetteville-based LifeSource International to support a food pantry program that helps feed more than 3,000 people each month in Northwest Arkansas.

LifeSource is a charity founded in 2001 as a small food pantry. Today, LifeSource serves more than 55,000 people in Northwest Arkansas for free through seven programs, including a food and clothing pantry, an after-school and summer camp program for youth, adult education classes and medical referrals.

The U.S. Census Bureau predicts that by 2015, Northwest Arkansas will exceed Pulaski County in the number of people facing food insecurity each month.
