JONESBORO — The Arkansas Department of Human Services has told Arkansas State University about a data breach in the university's College of Education and Behavioral Science's Department of Childhood Services.
The university said Friday that the breach could expose personally identifiable information. Chief Information Officer Henry Torres says there has been unauthorized access to the data — but no reports of illegal use of the information.
The database is related to the Traveling Arkansas Professional Pathways Registry. The registry is a professional development system that tracks more than 6,000 workshops each year to train childcare workers.
The program is not part of the main university databases, so no student, faculty or staff records are involved unless they have participated in the registry.
Officials say the registry has been taken offline until it is reviewed.
