USA Truck adds 10th board member

USA Truck Inc. on Friday announced the appointment of Alexander Greene as a company director, expanding its board to 10 members.

Last week, the company expanded the board by two in a deal to give a voice to activist shareholders Baker Street Capital and Stone House Capital Management, which collectively own a 28 percent stake in the company. The move — which added Baker Street managing partner Vadim Perelman and Thomas Glaser, a former interim chief operating officer at USA Truck, to the board — was separate from the selection of Greene, though the appointments all became effective simultaneously, the Van Buren-based trucking company said in a statement.

Greene, most recently a managing partner and head of U.S. private equity at Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management, has more than 30 years of corporate finance, restructuring and private equity experience. He previously served as a managing director and co-head of Carlyle Strategic Partners and as a managing director of the now-defunct Wasserstein Perella & Co. He also serves on the board of drilling-rigs firm CWC Energy Services Corp.

"I have known and worked with Alex for many years, and we are delighted to have him join our Board,” USA Truck Chairman Robert Peiser said. “We believe the financial, business and strategic acumen he has demonstrated throughout his distinguished career will be extremely valuable to USA Truck as we work to further improve the Company's financial performance and create long-term shareholder value."
