Sens. Mark Pryor, Cory Booker visit Mayflower

Sens. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., visited Mayflower on Saturday to see the extent of the damage caused by the tornado and severe storms in April.

The pair will speak at 3 p.m in the Old Supreme Court Chamber at the state Capitol about the disaster aid that is being given to the counties affected by the storms, as well as the need for disaster-aid funds to be maintained for future disasters.

While Pryor has visited the disaster sites several times since the storms in order to make sure relief funds were getting to the right people, this will be the first time Booker has seen the extent of the damage, according to officials with Pryor's office. Booker, whose state was devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, will talk to officials at the news conference about the importance of disaster relief assistance.
