LR firm selected to market eVersity

A Little Rock advertising firm has been selected to handle marketing for the University of Arkansas System's eVersity, a new online-only university set to offer its first classes in the fall.

Stone Ward was named in an intent-to-award letter dated from the UA System. Officials with the UA System have said the new venture will compete with national online colleges such as the University of Phoenix.

The eVersity will seek to draw enrollment from the more than 350,000 Arkansans who attended college but did not earn a degree, UA System officials have said.

No financial details of the agreement have been finalized, said Nate Hinkel, a UA System spokesman, but he estimated that the cost might be roughly $200,000 for 18 months of work.

The UA System received eight responses to a request for proposals seeking advertising services, he said.

"Hopefully, by spring we'll be very visible and recruiting students to start in the fall of 2015," Hinkel said.
