Arkansas Achievers

Michael Hilton of Horseshoe Bend is the first recipient of the Friends of the North Fork and White Rivers Scholarship at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

Emily Phillips of Mountain View won the J. Mulkey Kent award and first place in the open division in the Arkansas Old Time Fiddle Championship at Ozark Folk Center State Park.

Barbara G. Williams, chairman of the University of Central Arkansas Department of Nursing, received the 2014 Arkansas Hospital Association Chairman's Award.

Shauna Jackson of Benton was one of three winners in America in Bloom's "How Does Your Town Measure Up Against America's Prettiest" photo contest. Jackson's photos were taken in Little Rock.

Rhonda Evans received The Women's Giving Circle Endowed Scholarship in Nursing at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is a graduate of Clinton High School and is the daughter of the late Joe Evans and Carole Evans.

Elizabeth Freeman received a Henry G. and Stella Hotz Outstanding Sophomore award at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville . She is a graduate of Little Rock Christian Academy and is the daughter of Richard Freeman and Jan Cross.

Dr. John Talburt, professor of information sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was recently recognized with the 2014 Distinguished Member Award by the International Association for Information and Data Quality.
