HOPE — Vic Ford, the director of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture's Southwest Research and Extension Center, has been named a Fellow of the Society of American Foresters.
The recognition honors Society of American Forester members who have made outstanding contributions to the society and the forestry profession. The title of "Fellow" is awarded to only about 5 percent of the society's membership.
Ford is a northeast Tennessee native and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate from Virginia Tech. He has studied forest soils, productivity and weed control for 35 years.
Ford has more than 80 publications and presentations and is a recognized expert on ethics in forestry, forest health and the role of policy in agriculture.
