— The Southeastern Conference has fined the University of Arkansas $25,000 for allowing spectators onto the field following the Razorbacks' football game against LSU on Saturday.

Several thousand fans rushed onto the field moments following Arkansas' 17-0 win over LSU at Razorback Stadium. SEC rules prohibit schools from allowing spectators on the playing surface following a game.

“Celebration of a victory is understandable and appreciated but should be exhibited in the appropriate manner,” SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said in a statement. “We cannot forget that significant risk of injury for student-athletes and fans alike can result from incidents such as this.”

This is the second time Arkansas has been fined by the SEC since its current policy was implemented in 2004. The Razorbacks were fined $5,000 following a basketball game against Florida in 2006.

Any future violations by the Razorbacks will result in a $50,000 fine from the conference. LSU, Ole Miss and Kentucky have also been fined for allowing fans on the football field this season.
