HOLIDAY BAKING HELP

The Crisco Pie Hotline -- (877) 367-7438 -- provides information and tips to assist bakers with some of the most common pie-baking challenges. Recorded tips are available 24 hours a day, with pie experts available 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday year-round, and 7 a.m.-7 p.m Monday through Friday through Nov. 26; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 15--23 and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 24. Assistance also available in Spanish.

COOKING CLASSES

The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute offers a variety of culinary classes for adults. Topics and series include Table for Two, Made From Scratch, Tasting Dinners, Guest Chef Series and Basic Training. The classes are taught by Robert Hall, culinary programs coordinator and executive chef at the institute, as well as guest chef instructors from around the state. The classes feature demonstrations and hands-on food preparation. Participants are encouraged to take containers for to-go items of the finished dishes. The American Butter Institute's Go Bold With Butter blog is accepting entries in its Holiday Cookie Recipe Contest through Dec. 7. Recipes must be original and include real butter.
