LR police turkey giveaway set for Tuesday

The Little Rock Police Department will hand out 150 turkeys to families in need Tuesday and has announced its plan for facilitating traffic flow.

Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said those participating in the turkey giveaway must be in a vehicle and that those on foot won't be given a free turkey.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m., and Allen said that if participants arrive before 9 a.m., they will be asked to leave.

Turkeys will be given away at the 12th Street Station, located at 3917 W. 12th St., and the first 20 families to arrive will also receive a ham.

The line will start at 12th and Cedar streets and will be directed east from there, he said.

“We are trying to provide turkeys to the needy,” Allen said in an email. “If you are truly in need of assistance, we ask that you not participate in this event.”
