Cash prepares 9th Christmas parade

CASH -- The Cash Christmas Parade, first organized by a 14-year-old boy in 2006, will mark its ninth annual event Dec. 5 in the Craighead County town.

The parade begins at Craighead County Road 157 at 7 p.m. and will then roll through the downtown area.

Will Keedy, 22, was an eighth-grade student at Weiner High School when he began planning the town parade.

A year later, in 2007, he held a Christmas light contest in conjunction with the parade, and he's overseen the event ever since.

The theme for this year's parade is I'll Be Home On Christmas Day.

Admission is free, but Keedy asked those attending to donate unwrapped gifts so parade organizers can send them to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Those seeking more information can contact Keedy at (870) 253-1848 or visit the Facebook page "9th Cash Christmas Parade."
