2 killed in crashes on Arkansas roads

Arkansas State Police reported Tuesday that two people died in separate crashes on Arkansas roadways last week.

James Holder, 55, of Batesville, died Saturday from injuries he received in a single-vehicle crash in Independence County. He had been hospitalized at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock since Thursday, when his Chevrolet pickup exited Arkansas 25 north of Locust Grove and ran into a ditch. The vehicle then overturned and struck a tree.

Roy Hunt, 70, was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday on West Service Road at Arkansas 118 in Crittenden County. Hunt was driving a Ford Ranger west about 1:08 p.m. when he failed to yield at Arkansas 118 and struck a Ford pickup traveling north.

The driver of the pickup, Stephen Thorne, 22, was not injured.

Conditions were clear and dry when each of the crashes occurred, according to state police.
