One killed, one hurt in Monroe County collision

One driver was killed and another hurt Tuesday in Monroe County when a vehicle crossed the centerline and hit the left front end of an oncoming truck, Arkansas State Police said.

It happened about 11 a.m. on Arkansas 17 north of U.S. 49.

According to a police report, Lenna J. Duren, 69, was driving a 2007 Toyota south on the highway when it veered across the centerline and collided with a northbound 2007 International truck.

Duren died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

The death was the 340th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
