Stormy weather in Arkansas forecast for Thursday

LITTLE ROCK — The Storm Prediction Center says all of Arkansas is at a slight risk for severe weather Thursday as a band of thunderstorms forms along a cold front moving through the state.

Forecasters say the best chances for storms will be late Thursday afternoon and evening, with damaging straight-line winds the main threat. The National Weather Service says large hail and heavy rainfall are also possible with the storm system.

Some local areas could see more than 2 inches of rain Thursday.

Forecasters say much cooler air will settle into the state after the storms move out. The weekend forecast calls for highs in 70s and lows in the 50s throughout much of the state.
