Man ordered to stand trial in girlfriend's death

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — A 29-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial on accusations that he strangled his girlfriend at a downtown apartment building in the southeast Missouri town of Poplar Bluff.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that Butler County Associate Circuit Judge John Bloodworth this week found probable cause in the case of Jeremy Allen Winkle. He is charged with second-degree murder. Winkle lists addresses in Paragould, Ark., and Senath, Mo.

The crime happened on May 19, when 28-year-old Tiffani Noles of Paragould was killed.

There was no answer Thursday at a phone listing for Winkle's attorney.
