MovieStyle: Going, going …

Gone Girl officially kicks off the fall movie season this week; and David Fincher’s take on Gillian Flynn’s sensational literary novel/media critique disguised as a pulp thriller is poised to be one of the most talked-about (if not actually seen) movies of the year. But our Piers Marchant has seen it, and he will tell you all about it in this week’s MovieStyle.

And that’s not all — Karen Martin reports on The Good Lie, the next step in Reese Witherspoon’s rehabilitation campaign. She reviews the movie and talks to members of the cast and crew. (She also talks to Texas-based Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church, whose movie Lucky Them is among the week’s top DVD releases.) Meanwhile Philip Martin reviews what may be the best film released this week: Memphis native Ira Sachs’ Love is Strange.

And there’s lots more, including Dan Lybarger’s review of Left Behind and Karen Martin’s HomeMovies column on our blood, dirt & angels blog (blooddirtangels.com).

Read Friday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for full reviews.
