White County man found with $30,000 in stolen property

A Searcy man was arrested Tuesday on theft and drug charges by White County sheriff’s office deputies after he was found in possession of stolen property and drugs at his home, officials say.

White County sheriff’s office officials say detectives went to 180 Hicks Road, north of Bald Knob, to find Derrick Langley, 30, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for a parole violation. Officials were also told that Langley had large amounts of stolen property at the residence.

The man attempted to flee into the woods when officers arrived, but he was shortly taken into custody on his outstanding parole-violation warrant. During his apprehension, officers found about one gram of “suspected methamphetamine" on Langley, the White County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Detectives secured a search warrant on Langley's home and recovered approximately $30,000 worth of items stolen in various residential and commercial burglaries in Searcy and throughout White County.

Langley is being held at the White County jail without bond for his parole violation warrant.

Formal charges of commercial and residential burglary, theft of property, theft by receiving, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and fleeing are expected to be filed against Langlely early next week.
