PINE BLUFF -- Camden Fairview's defense stopped White Hall's Courtney Anderson short on a two-point attempt with 57 seconds to play Friday, and the Cardinals held on to beat the Bulldogs 34-33 in a 5A-South game.
Anderson's 6-yard run with 57 seconds left made it 34-33, and the Bulldogs (2-3, 1-1) went for a two-point conversion, but Anderson was stopped 1 yard short.
Camden Fairview( 4-1, 2-0) led 20-6 at halftime before White Hall got a 1-yard score from Kirk Baugh.
The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick, and Anderson scored on a 1-yard run to tie the game at 20-20.
The Cardinals scored twice to take a 34-20 lead -- first on a 42-yard run by DeAngelo Wright and then on a 63-yard run by Cornelius Page.
Page led the Cardinals with 17 carries for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Baugh led the Bulldogs, who outgained the Cardinals 438 to 354, with 78 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns while completing 21 of 31 passes for 205 yards.
HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE 45, MAGNOLIA 21
HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs Lakeside (2-3, 1-1) overcame a 14-0 first-quarter deficit Friday night at Rams Stadium, handing Magnolia (2-3, 0-2) its third consecutive loss. Lakeside’s rally started after Magnolia’s second touchdown of the first quarter, a 91-yard run by Nile Cooper at the 3:29 mark.
Lakeside cut the lead to 14-7 when Clint Smedley threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Maurice Bradford with 10:28 left in the second. Lakeside tied the game on a 1-yard run by Colt Housely and on a field goal by Austin Miller, who was 7 of 7 on extra-point attempts. Magnolia regained the lead 21-17 on Justin Dockery’s 6-yard run with 6:14 to play in the third quarter. Lakeside regained the lead with 30 seconds remaining in the third when Smedley threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Bradford to make it 31-21.
Bradford scored on a 6-yard run with 4:40 left to make it 38-21 and Housely scored on a 38-yard fumble return to close out the scoring at 45-21.
