1 75TH FAIR

Prepare for music, wild rides, livestock and fried everything as the Arkansas State Fair celebrates its 75th year Friday-Oct. 19 at the State Fairgrounds, 2600 Howard St. This year's fair will include a parade through downtown Little Rock at 10 a.m. Saturday as well as the usual foods and entertainment, with music headliners Travis Tritt, George Thorogood, Jagged Edge and REO Speedwagon. Advance admission is $5.99, $2.99 for ages 6-12 and 60 and older. Ride wristbands are $22. Admission at the gate is $10 and $5. Parking is $5. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Center for Arkansas History and Culture salutes the Man in Black with "Johnny Cash: Arkansas Icon," Friday-Jan. 24 at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies' galleries, 401 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. 3 29TH BLUES FESTIVAL

It's three days and five stages packed with blues as Helena-West Helena welcomes the King Biscuit Blues Festival through Saturday. Stages spread along Cherry Street downtown will feature Guitar Shorty, Delbert McClinton and James Cotton among many others. Admission wristbands are $30 for one day, $50 for three days. And speaking of James Cotton, the blues harmonica legend, with seven Grammy Awards on his mantelpiece, will perform at 7 p.m. today in the Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre at Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock. Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, James Keach's documentary about Campbell's 2011 final concert tour after his announcement that he has Alzheimer's disease, opens the the 23rd annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the Arlington Hotel, 239 Central Ave., Hot Springs. In conjunction with the film, there will be a pre-screening champagne and popcorn reception at 5:30, a post-screening question-and-answer session with the filmmakers (at which members of Campbell's family will perform songs from the film) and an after-party. Opening night tickets are $25. Scheduled to attend the festival, continuing through Oct. 19, are actors George Takei, Joey Lauren Adams and Tess Harper; actor-director Luke Wilson; former Olympic diving champion Greg Louganis; producer/director Harry Thomason; and illusionist James " The Amazing" Randi. The Arkansas Chamber Singers, with players from the Arkansas Symphony, will perform Franz Joseph Haydn's Mass No. 10 in C major, Mass in Time of War (sometimes also called the "Paukenmesse" or "Kettledrum Mass" for the composer's use of timpani) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Road, Little Rock. Soloists are Leanne Hatley, soprano; Suzanne Loerch, alto; Matt Newman, tenor; and Stephen Edds, bass. Also on the program: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Regina Coeli, K. 276, with soloists Lis Geoghegan, soprano; Teresa Balloun, alto; Jordan Bennett, tenor; and Tim Bartlett, bass. John Erwin conducts. The Little Rock Wind Symphony opens its 22nd season with a concert titled "Energy and Reflection" at 7:30 p.m. today at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. Timothy Oliver, director of bands and coordinator of wind and percussion studies at Arkansas State University at Jonesboro who is a candidate for the music director position, will conduct a program that includes an arrangement of "La Virgen de la Macarena" featuring trumpet soloist Christopher Wilson, plus Esprit de Corps by Robert Jager; Divertimento for Band by Vincent Persichetti; "Intermezzo" from An Original Suite by Gordon Jacob; and "Apollo Unleashed" from the Symphony No. 2 by Frank Ticheli. 10 61ST SEASON

The Apollo Chamber Players -- Matthew Detrick and Anabel Ramirez, violin; Whitney Bullock, viola; and Matthew Dudzik, cello -- will open the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock's 61st season with a program that explores the relationship between Czech composer Antonin Dvorak and black American composers Henry Burleigh and Little Rock native Florence Beatrice Price, 7:30 p.m. today in the Parish Hall, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1100 N.
