Cotton, Pryor to face off in second debate

FAYETTEVILLE — Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican Rep. Tom Cotton are set to face off in the second televised debate of their increasingly heated and expensive fight for a U.S. Senate seat from Arkansas.

The two rivals are to meet Tuesday night at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for the debate held by Little Rock television station KATV. Unlike their first televised debate Monday, this one will only feature the two major party rivals.

In Monday's debate, Cotton repeatedly tried to tie Pryor to President Barack Obama, while Pryor accused Cotton of being beholden to billionaire backers.

The candidates and outside groups have spent nearly $34 million on the race, which Republicans view as crucial in their efforts to win a majority in the Senate.
