Organizers call off ex-governor's talk

The Conversations with Arkansas Governors event featuring former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker has been canceled for Saturday.

Organizers said the Little Rock event was canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances." Tucker said he told the organizers several weeks ago that he would likely be out of state this weekend and was surprised to learn that they were promoting the event anyway.

The entertainment media management company Emmc LLC, along with Robinson & Robinson, is behind the Conversations with Arkansas Governors series, intended to be individual, first-person talks by the state's leaders.

Last week, the group also canceled what had been billed as a conversation with former Gov. David Pryor "due to unforeseen circumstances."

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee is still scheduled to speak Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. The location is the Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave. in Little Rock.

More information about the series is available at ArkansasGovernors.com.
