Jonesboro police: Man gave drug evidence to officer

JONESBORO — Jonesboro police have arrested a man who they say handed an officer an insurance card covered in cocaine residue during a traffic stop.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that 31-year-old Shannon Ray of Blytheville was charged Wednesday with several drug charges. Officer Blake Bristow said Ray was pulled over Tuesday for a traffic violation.

Bristow said he noticed white powder on the card and that it tested positive for cocaine.

Ray told police that neither the car nor the card belongs to him. Bristow said he found a bag filled with drugs in Ray's underwear.

Police say the bag contained cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and ecstasy.

Ray is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond at the Craighead County jail. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
