Hutchinson reports raising $451,000 in October

LITTLE ROCK — Republican Asa Hutchinson is reporting raising more than $451,000 this month in his bid for Arkansas governor.

Hutchinson's campaign said Tuesday that the fundraising figures mean Hutchinson has raised more than $4.2 million since launching his bid for Arkansas' top office last year. Hutchinson is running against Democratic nominee and fellow ex-congressman Mike Ross. The two are running to succeed Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe, who is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.

Hutchinson reported spending more than $480,000 this month, and his campaign said the bulk was to purchase airtime for advertising in the final days. Hutchinson reported having nearly $213,000 in the bank.

Tuesday is the deadline for state candidates to file their final fundraising report before the Nov. 4 election.
