Annual Doggie Paddle Day set at aquatic center

The Jim Dailey Aquatic Center is closing for the winter, but before that, the place is going to the dogs.

The annual Doggie Paddle Day, benefiting the Little Rock Animal Village, will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the center, 300 South Monroe St. Dogs and their human owners are encouraged to visit to the pool and enjoy food and activities to mark the end of outdoor pool season.

Dogs may enjoy a doggie bake sale, swim time and contests, the city said. For dog owners, face painting as well as a bouncy castle will provide entertainment. There will also be snacks including popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones.

Admission is $10 per dog and an extra $5 if owners want their dogs to enter competitions. Proceeds will be used to purchase a blood centrifuge machine, which will allow immediate results blood work for animals who need treatment immediately.

Dogs must be spayed or neutered, have their rabies tags and should play well with other dogs, the city said. One dog is allowed per human adult.
