Man fatally shot in Pine Bluff

A man died early Friday after authorities responded to a vehicle crash and found him suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

The Pine Bluff Police Department said officers were dispatched about 12:35 a.m. after a Buick Rendezvous hit a water hydrant and a utility pole at 12th Avenue and Cherry Street.

A man, identified as Claudell Turner, 57, of Pine Bluff, was inside the SUV suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police performed CPR, but the man's condition "deteriorated" and he died shortly before 1 a.m., police said.

The motive in the shooting remains under investigation, and no suspects have been identified.
