Police are asking for help locating a suspect they say was caught on video breaking into a Pine Bluff business early Tuesday morning.
Pine Bluff police are searching for Chad Michael Smothers, 38, in connection with a break-in at R&E Supply at 2514 W. 17th Ave. in Pine Bluff just after midnight. Store owners said that although nothing was taken from the business, the intruder did damage a sliding bay door.
A friend of the business owner who viewed the security video, in which a white man is seen using a wooden plank to pry open the sliding bay door, identified Smothers as the man in the video, according to a report. The friend said he recognized Smothers because the two men had lived across the street from one other for five years.
Smothers has outstanding warrants in both Pine Bluff and Grant counties. Anyone with information regarding Smothers' whereabouts can contact the Pine Bluff police detective division at 870-730-2090 or the dispatch office at 870-541-5300.
