Arkansas 7 work to cause overnight lane closures

Work on Arkansas 7 will require overnight lane closures in Russellville and Dover starting next week, state highway officials said Tuesday.

In Russellville, crews will be resurfacing 4.2 miles of Arkansas Avenue from north of the Dardanelle and Russellville Railroad spur, just north of U.S. 64/West Main Street, to near G Street, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said. The work will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., each night except Sundays, from Monday through Sept. 19, the department said.

The work will be done by Blackstone Construction LLC, which was awarded the contract for a bid of $954,583, highway officials said.

Meanwhile, resurfacing work will extend 2.9 miles north of Linker Creek, located just south of Dover, and will reduce the highway’s northbound and southbound traffic to one lane in each direction, the department said. The work, being done by Blackstone Construction for $777,770, will run during the same hours as the Russellville work, highway officials added.

Flaggers and warning signs will be used to control traffic, the department said.
