Green Forest woman killed in wreck; 2 hurt

A Labor Day wreck in Madison County left a Green Forest woman dead and two other people hurt, the Arkansas State Police said.

A 2011 Chevrolet was driving west on U.S. 412 when it crossed the centerline, hitting head-on a 2014 Toyota that was heading east, according to a state police accident report. It happened shortly after 4 p.m. east of Arkansas 127, the report states.

Peggy Rhoades, 69, a passenger in the Toyota, was killed, state police said. The drivers of the two vehicles were injured and taken to Washington Regional Medical Center. Their conditions weren’t available Tuesday morning.

The weather was clear and the road dry at the time of the wreck, state police said.

Rhoades’ death marked the 296th on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
