While on patrol around South Chester Street, officers said they saw a man point a gun out the window of a white BMW in the direction of children on the side of the street at 5:13 p.m.

The officers turned on their sirens and chased the vehicle, which went west on West 16th Street from South Chester Street, north onto South Ringo Street, then back toward Philander Smith College where it turned in to the campus, reports said.

After driving through campus, the driver and his two passengers jumped out of the vehicle and ran into various dorm buildings, reports said.

Officers blocked off the area, and with the help of school security officers, locked the campus down for at least an hour as they did room-by-room checks for the suspects.

Eventually three men, two of whom lived on campus, were found and taken in for questioning.

Carvelle Jeffries, 20, who lived on campus, was cited for fleeing and released.

Emory Craig, 23, whom officers identified as the man who aimed the gun at the two children, was found with a .22-caliber pistol and charged with possession of a firearm on a campus, as well as fleeing.

The driver, identified as Clinton Burrell, 22, was also found in possession of a pistol and charged with carrying on a campus, careless driving and fleeing.

Both Burrell and Craig remained in the Pulaski County jail. No bail had been set.

Little Rock Police Department officials said more charges may be added if the two child victims can be found.
