Pine Bluff teen arrested in August fatal shooting

A Pine Bluff teenager was arrested Wednesday in the August shooting death of a 61-year-old man, police say.

Courtland King, 18, of Pine Bluff was taken into custody shortly before 2 p.m. at 1021 S. Linden St.

King was developed as a suspect when “additional evidence was gathered by detectives” in the Aug. 19 death of Howard Edwards, Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Lt. David Price said.

Price said it was unknown if King and Edwards knew each other prior to the murder.

Edwards was found unresponsive around 2:20 a.m., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a 1993 gold Oldsmobile Royale, Arkansas Online previously reported.

King is charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Jefferson County jail awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for Friday, Price said.
