Clarke signs to play in Israel

Former Arkansas forward Coty Clarke signed a contract Tuesday to play for Hapoel Kazrin in the Israeli National League.

Clarke averaged 8.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in his career, becoming the fifth player in Arkansas history to accumulate 500 points, 300 rebounds and 100 assists over any two-year span. He averaged 9.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season.

Hapoel Kazrin posted a 19-7 record in the National League last season and advanced to the playoff quarterfinals.

Hendrix sweeps two from Central Baptist

Hendrix got an all-around solid effort as it swept two matches from Central Baptist College on Tuesday at Grove Gymnasium in Conway, taking the first match 25-10, 25-14, 25-16 and winning the second match 25-19, 25-6, 25-20.

Freshman middle blocker Sara Dyslin led Hendrix (4-1) with nine kills and three aces in the first match. Samantha Stockdale had seven kills, MC Rogers added six and Bradi Ryan had five. Jill Sikes had 12 digs and Marlee Matlock had a career-high 22 assists.

Lauren Petrisin led Hendrix with 10 kills in the second match, while Rogers had eight, Dyslin added seven and Stockdale had five. Leila Matsumoto had 12 digs and Matlock added 18 assists. Allison Gaia had 14 assists and three aces.

Tiffany Curtwright led Central Baptist (0-2) in both matches, coming up with four kills and 13 assists in the first match and adding 11 assists in the second match.

CROSS COUNTRY

Harding men, women ranked regionally

The men’s and women’s teams at Harding enter the season ranked No. 6 in the Central Region in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II regional rankings.

They are the top-ranked teams from the Great American Conference in both polls and are the only GAC team ranked in the women’s top 10. Augustana (S.D.) is the top-ranked men’s team in the region, while Minnesota-Duluth is the top women’s team.

The Central Region is made up of team from the GAC, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
