A single-vehicle wreck in Crawford County on Thursday left a Clarksville woman dead, the Arkansas State Police said.
Sue Watson, 71, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer south on Interstate 49 at mile marker 22 in Alma when the tire tread separated and caused her to lose control of the sport utility vehicle, according to a state police accident report. The Ford ran off the highway’s right shoulder and overturned about 3:12 p.m., state police said.
Watson was taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, where she died, the report states.
Her death was the 298th to occur in an accident on Arkansas roads so far in 2014, according to preliminary state police figures.
