The first weekend of college football wasn't a difficult one when it came to picking winners, especially in the SEC where three teams lost but only one was a nonconference loss.
So there is no bragging about going 7-0 last weekend with the predictions, and this weekend doesn't appear to be much harder. There is only one conference game, and that should be a walk in the park for Ole Miss.
A game to keep an eye on is the Arkansas State at Tennessee.
NICHOLLS STATE AT ARKANSAS
Even though the Razorbacks shouldn't break much of a sweat, Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and his staff need to play more freshmen. The future is now for the defense and the receivers. Arkansas, 49-7
ASU AT TENNESSEE
Almost went with the upset here because the Vols scored twice in the fourth quarter, one on a 15-yard pass, to get to 38 points and they had only 383 yards against Utah State. The Vols better be ready for "Lightning" Fredi Knighten, who rushed for 104 yards and passed for 219 against Montana State. Tennessee, 28-27
FAU AT ALABAMA
The Crimson Tide may play every quarterback they have in this game. Florida Atlantic was clobbered by Nebraska last week, and the Cornhuskers aren't Alabama. Alabama, 56-0
SAN JOSE AT AUBURN
Auburn may have the two best quarterbacks in the SEC, and both should play. Nick Marshall starts, but Jeremy Johnson finishes. Not sure how much the Spartans are getting paid, but it isn't enough. Gus Malzahn will not run up the score too badly. Auburn, 49-10
E. MICHIGAN AT FLORIDA
The Gators were washed out last week by severe storms and the game will not be rescheduled this season, so Idaho sort of wins because it gets to keep the $975,000 and didn't get hurt or embarrassed. Eastern Michigan should pray for the same. Florida, 49-7
OHIO AT KENTUCKY
The Bobcats opened the season with a 17-14 victory over Kent State and travel to Lexington, Ky., this weekend to face the Wildcats, who may become one of the more intriguing teams in the SEC this season. The Wildcats had 422 yards passing and 234 rushing in their victory over Tennessee-Martin, and it was over at the half with Kentucky leading 35-0. Kentucky, 49-14
SAM HOUSTON AT LSU
The Tigers were very impressive in their second-half, come-from-behind victory over a tough Wisconsin team last week. LSU, 42-10
OLE MISS AT VANDERBILT
This will be the Rebels' statement game. They weren't overly impressive in their victory over Boise State last week but should make great improvement going into the second week, and the Commodores are back. Back at the bottom. Ole Miss, 42-7
UAB AT MISS. STATE
The Blazers opened with a solid victory over Troy, but this is looking like a bell-ringing season for Debbie Dillion and other Bulldogs fans. It doesn't matter who you play, to win 49-0 is impressive, and the Bulldogs held Southern Miss to 293 total yards. MSU, 35-6
MISSOURI AT TOLEDO
The Tigers should never travel to Toledo, but they are, and this could be a trap game. Oddsmakers are favoring the Tigers by just 31/2 points. Missouri, 17-14
E. CAROLINA AT S. CAROLINA
The Gamecocks face an offense very similar to what Texas A&M used to rack up 680 yards last week. Maybe South Carolina will be ready this time. They better be. The Pirates rushed for 208 yards and passed for 374 in their 52-7 victory over North Carolina Central. South Carolina, 27-21
LAMAR AT TEXAS A&M
The Aggies continue to roll. Texas A&M, 56-10
