Where I live: I live in a 94-year-old house in the historic Quapaw Quarter neighborhood of Little Rock with my husband, Cedric, and our 10-year-old son, Caleb. We share our home with cats Scotch and Midnight and a 7-month-old Airedale terrier named Cam, who is already 50 pounds. We bought our home three years ago because we love the neighborhood.

Occupation: I am an artist and work in drawing and printmaking. I am the founder of Black Box Press. And I have been chosen to participate in "State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now," which will open next Saturday at Crystal Bridges Museum [of American Art] in Bentonville.

My favorite space is: Our living room.

Why? It's a nice, quiet room. I love to curl up in here and read. And there are plenty of books in our collection. We purposely do not have a television in this room. It is for enjoying friends and good conversation. On the walls, we have hung artwork created by artists who are close friends. The large painting in back of the sofa is by North Little Rock artist V.L. Cox with whom I shared a studio when I first moved to Little Rock. The room faces the street and has a large window, so we are able to see all of the activity taking place outside.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add more bookshelves.
