News and notes

Two players with Arkansas ties got their first promotions to the Major Leagues with teams expanding their rosters to 40 players on Monday. First baseman Andy Wilkins (Arkansas Razorbacks) was called up to the Chicago White Sox from Class AAA Charlotte, where he will help fill in for Adam Dunn, who is now with the Oakland Athletics. Catcher James McCann (Arkansas Razorbacks) was called up to the Detroit Tigers from Class AAA Toledo. Relief pitcher Blake Parker (Arkansas Razorbacks/Fayetteville) spent most of the season shuttling between the Chicago Cubs and Class AAA Iowa, and was called up to Chicago for a seventh time this season.

Pitcher Nolan Sanburn (Arkansas Razorbacks) was traded to the Chicago White Sox from the Oakland Athletics on Aug. 31 as part of the Adam Dunn trade. Sanburn was 3-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 42 appearances for Class A advanced Stockton, Calif.

Pitcher Andy Ferguson (Arkansas State/Benton) was promoted to Class AAA Omaha from Class AA Northwest Arkansas by the Kansas City Royals organization on Aug. 27. Ferguson, who went 11-10 with a 2.93 ERA for the Naturals, is 1-1 with the Storm Chasers with a 6.00 ERA. He lost his first start on Aug. 27 at Reno, giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits in 7 innings. He came back to win Monday against Colorado Springs, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5 innings.

Pitcher Dustin Moseley (Texarkana) was placed on the disabled list by the Jacksonville Suns (AA Marlins) on Aug. 17 with a strained right shoulder. He made his last appearance on Aug. 16 at Chattanooga, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout in 3 innings.
